This is a five-arm gas fixture from the early 1880s or perhaps late 1870s. It is definitely English there are registered hallmark designations on several elements - and certainly has a Dresser style about it, so we feel comfortable attributing it to Dresser though we have no documentation to prove it. It was originally a counter weight gaselier; you can see where the chains attached to the shaft on the top. It boasts many wonderful details incised Aesthetic lines and stylized ornaments are everywhere. Unfortunately the original keys were lost when someone poorly restored it, and they drilled the fixture in many places. Once restored by us, these holes will not be noticeable unless closely examined. Under any circumstances, if you are not delighted with it after restoration, you are not committed to purchase.
The dimensions are 29-30 inches in width, and currently as pictured it is 25 1/2 inches in length. Once an appropriate ceiling cap is placed above the remnants of the counter weight mechanism, the overall length will be approximately 28" in length though we can easily adjust it up or down at your request. We would not like to cut the cast and chased center pole but we could put a very flat ceiling cap that would make overall length 27 to 28" and then of course if you needed it longer that would not be an issue
