Hand gas sconce, Circa 1870. This one is definitively Mitchell Vance. Original but terrible finish which will be brought back to desired color. Made of spelter with brass embellishments. These were most often found in reception areas to greet guests with a welcoming hand! The Fall River Historical Society has 8 matching, four left hands and four right hands, in a circular dining room...it's a bit spooky!
